Support Groups

We facilitate three weekly support groups, one in Gateshead and two in Newcastle. The groups offer social contact and emotional support for women with enduring mental health problems, as well as the chance to try new things and build skills.

Coping with Depression

A ten-week course offering support, understanding and coping strategies to beat the blues.

"Go for it, as it is so helpful and the staff are lovely. You also come out a stronger person."

"It was very, very good!"

Confidence Building

Two five week courses aiming to help women deal with everyday situations in a more assertive way.

"I have learnt I do have qualities that matter, which have made me feel better about how to move forward."

"It was a great course. It does build up confidence, and you meet new friends!"

Crafty Women

Have fun and try your hand at crafts as well as making new friends. Our crafty women had an exhibition of their work in Gateshead Library. See our Great Quilt wall hanging made by the Crafty Women's Group.

Exercise to Music

We meet every week to get fit, have fun and make friends. One hour of gentle exercise, including chair-based exercise.

"I really enjoyed it and felt uplifted".

"Looking forward to every class!".

Wellbeing for Older Women

A self-supportimg group for women over 55. Meets weekly for support, friendship and activities.

"I have done things I wouldn't have done without support from others".

"Made me think more about others and their feelings".

Monday Drop-In

The drop-in provides a welcoming place for newcomers, the chance to find out more, and a way of getting involved (or staying in touch) without a big commitment. It is offered in partnership with MIND.

Monday Drop in is so popular we are now running a new 'Welcome' session for Women New to Tyneside Women's Health.

"I made an important change, learning to mix with others."

"Making friends and getting out and about has really helped me".
